Early introduction of highly allergenic foods (such as peanut and egg) between 4-6 months of age is recommended to reduce the risk of developing food allergies, particularly in infants at high risk, ie those with severe eczema or existing food allergy. The American Academcy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology recommend introducing one allergen at a time with a 3-5 day interval between new foods to monitor for allergic reactions. This approach helps us identify potential allergens in the event of a reaction. Once kids have tolerated multiple different allergens, then offering multiple allergenic foods at one time is okay. If you have questions, please speak with your physician.
